Attach a file
Attachments are added in the full compose window. Compact compose and inline reply do not attach files. If compact send sees attachments, Primail opens full compose instead.
Add a file
Section titled “Add a file”- Click the paperclip and pick one or more files.
- Or drop files on the compose pane.
Each file you add becomes a chip. Remove a chip to drop that file from the send.
There is no paste-from-clipboard attachment path, and no Reveal in Finder on compose chips.
Drafts on this Mac keep attached files when the save works. If a file is missing or not ready, Primail asks you to Retry or attach it again. Do that only when you see that prompt. See Drafts.
The app uses one limit for every provider:
- Warning styling near 20 MB total
- Send and Send Later blocked above 25 MB total
The compose copy may say to share a link instead. Primail does not upload to iCloud Drive or mint a cloud link.
Providers can still reject a smaller message. There is no in-app per-provider size table. Check the provider’s current documentation if a send fails on size.
Primail does not filter extensions. If SMTP rejects a type, the error appears on the compose window.
Inline cid: images
Section titled “Inline cid: images”HTML that already contains cid: tokens can bind those ids to
attachment rows on send. That is not a clipboard-image feature.
Received attachments
Section titled “Received attachments”In the reader, click a filename to open it with the system handler. Download writes under Downloads and can offer Show in Finder. Downloads are capped at 25,000,000 bytes. The save stays on the mailbox that owns the message.
See Compose an email.
