Drafts: save and discard
A draft is unsent mail you may come back to. Primail keeps it on this Mac. It is not a Primail cloud draft, and a save does not put the message in another mail app.
While you write
Section titled “While you write”Full compose saves the subject, recipients, body, and attached files as you type. That is not a fixed three-second timer.
Open Drafts in Primail to continue a saved draft.
If recovery cannot be written, the close prompt says so. Keep the window open or delete the draft yourself.
If a file cannot be recovered, Primail asks you to Retry or attach it again. See Attach a file.
Closing a dirty compose asks:
- Save and Close Draft
- Delete Draft
Save and Close Draft keeps the draft on this Mac. Delete Draft removes it from this Mac.
There is no ten-second Undo for discarding a draft. Session Undo does not cover compose typing. See Undo the last action.
Open a draft
Section titled “Open a draft”Smart Drafts (or Classic Drafts) lists drafts for connected accounts on this Mac. Open one and continue in compose.
The draft is removed after the send is confirmed, or after the send is accepted into Undo Send or Send Later. Clicking Send does not remove it by itself.
Reply, Forward, and Done are for received mail, not an unsent draft.
What stays local
Section titled “What stays local”Cursor position and in-window undo stay on this Mac. Primail does not run a cloud draft service.
Scheduled mail is not a draft. It lives in Outbox until it sends. See Schedule send & undo send.
Agents
Section titled “Agents”draft_create, draft_list, draft_update, draft_delete,
and draft_send are the current MCP names. See the
MCP tool reference.
